A Mexican Home Made Breakfast & The Artsy Life

This are "quesadillas de papa con queso"
Home made Mexican style quesadillas of
potatoes and cheese! They are one of my favorites
and I am sharing with you how easy is to make them!

Of course you have to have tortillas, this are shaped differently than
the regular ones which are more rounded, I like this shape for my
quesadillas but you can use what you have!
If you can`t find any tortillas around you, you can always
make them! I found a recipe for you here!

I use small potatoes for they cook faster, I simply put them into
water and boil them for 30 minutes, you might need a bit more
or less depending on your weather, use a fork to check them,
when the fork goes all the way inn and out easily, they are done!
Then I cool them down and then smash them in a bowl, add some salt
and pepper, you can add a touch of your favorite spices!

Then simply add some potatoes and your favorite cheese inside
each tortilla as you see in the top photo and cook in a pan until
the cheese is melted and voila!

Serve with your favorite salsa, guacamole or just as they are and
enjoy!  They are fabulous and yes, I eat three of them!! :D

I`ve been practicing my abstracts, they are so much fun to make
and experiment with, I am really enjoying this side of art!
Jane Davies is really inspiring me a lot with her fabulous videos,
I just love how she flows with each painting and her use of color!

Words come to me in dreaming
and I dream these words coming out of my voice...

I found this amazing recipe for a delicious sweet afternoon!
Frozen Banana Bites!
They are OMG delicious and super easy to make!
If you want to try it, please read the recipe!

This painting is in progress, each time I try different things and
this time is no different, there is so much to learn even when you
paint the same subject over and over like faces!

One day at a time...

I`ve been practicing a lot, I want to be able to grow my art skills even more,
the only way is to go a head and do it, practice and learn, sometimes I surprise
my self with magical touches, some others I wish I had undo like in photoshop!

Having a goal keeps me going, other wise it would be tiring and frustrating, my wish
has always been to be able to paint what I can see on my mind, sometimes just ideas
but usually better in my mind that when put in the action but more and more, with
each day of practice, I come a little closer so that is my motivation!  In the mean time
I use what I have, what I know and I am happy with it!

This is the first page of the bamboo watercolor papers, I showed you in the
last post and let me tell you the pages are simply fabulous!

"Mirror"

Mixed Media on a 11 x 14 acid free mixed media paper

I`ve also been using the XL Canson mixed media pages like this to paint
over the desk easel and they are fabulous, they hold a lot of abuse,
I love them!

Each day is a step into a better self,
each day a new realization of how I´m blessed,
each day is reaching higher,
each day is finding happiness,
going forward,
going to self,
going farther
out of the shelve,
growing stronger,
growing together,
growing pure,
growing forever...

"Shine"
Mixed Media 13 x 10. 5 inches watercolor paper
this was an experiment, one that I want to repeat!

"Fruiting"
Mixed Media on a 11 x 14 acid free mixed media paper,
I have been thinking about circles and more circles and so I gave this a try to
let it out, I like how my abstracts are taking shape, little by little coming out of the
corners of my soul, this is called fruiting because I used a fruit photo as reference!

I have been painting over cardboard, thanks to Misty
in my current class, I love it and it`s
super easy to find around the house, I love to recycle all
kinds of them and now I always have
a few ready to go for when inspiration strikes,
I really recommend you try it!!

love the path
for the path
is who you are...

Opened doors

Have you ever been disappointed with what you created?
This time I want to share what happened to me, I think it`s important
that I share this, first so I don`t forget, then because it may help someone out there!
It really amazes me how easy it is to transform things if you stay positive
and keep on developing your idea!  This has never disappointed me!

I`ve started by taking a new course about abstractions with Alisa Burke,
she`s amazing and I loved the course so I`ve started to practice and see what
I could come out with and I started to work on this last week and kept on it
for a while...

Then I thought it needed more...

and now I don`t like it!  hahaha!  But the good news is that I love photoshop
and just started to play with the images and...

I am happy and inspired to make a mix of my paintings to make digital art!

The point here is to always try to find new ways to expand, to
try new things and  to never give up, when we do so,
we close our possibilities but they are always there, opened doors waiting
to be crossed, waiting for you and your curiosity, so as I always
tell my students, there are no mistakes just keep on going!

This also is a way of letting go, letting it happen...

Were can you open a new door for you now?

Unfolding

As the year starts to develop so is my work at the  studio
and I am starting to unfold to a new me,
I am learning about the abstract world and just loving it!

I`ve started a new series called "Abstractions of the soul"
This studies and paintings are a keeper for me!  In this photo I
love how the plate palette and the rag could be part of this series too!

As some of you may know, I am part of the wonderful experience
Life book 2013, this new dolly is made with the same steps I`ve
shared in my bonus class there,  I am just delighted with so many
beautiful artwork the girls have posted, it so inspiring and I feel
really good and happy about all this, I am grateful to be part of it!

This is the beginning of the new collection I was talking about,
I am taking Alisa`s  Burk class about abstractions and I am learning a lot, she`s
one of my favorite artists and for my birthday I was given her course as a
gift from my sweet sister and I am loving it!!

Of course I have been carving too! This is addictive and I want to keep on it,
here is a sample of the newest, some sweet hearts, all this is posted for sale on my
store, if you are interested, please visit here or look up in the tabs section!
This are hard to let go but I am sure they will make someone happy!

How is your year coming along so far? Are you following your intentions?
I hope one of them is to be HAPPY! :D as much as you can! I know sometimes
life gets on the way but remember to go back there and stay strong!!
